Carola Hume

Hello fellow artists & visitors,
Thanks for stopping by to look at my work.
I live on the Gold Coast having moved up from Camden on the outskirts of Sydney in December 2005.

I joined the Royal Queensland Art Society around 2006, (membership has since lapsed) but had not really done much with my membership except attend the best watercolour workshop I've ever been to, by visiting artist Tony Smibert from Tasmania. I've attended many workshops over the years, & whilst my previous workshop art teachers can all paint well, very few can actually teach how to improve your technique. Tony was absolutely brilliant!!!!!

I've been painting on & off since a teenager, with up to a maximum break of about 10-15 years between; attending different evening art classes & workshops at various times, but it was always a kind of scatter-gun approach due to my work commitments which took me around Australia during the week as a commercial pilot.

Years ago I used to indulge in oils, but I really just can't stand the smell, so I decided to switch to watercolours which I find quite challenging.
However, my most favourite mediums are pen & ink, crayons (love their soft feel across the paper), pastels, pencil, aquarelle pencils, charcoal & gouache.

My other painting love, is silk painting, which I hope to get back to at some stage in the near future.

I appreciate all your comments on my pictures, if I don't post a reply on your painting it's because I have not been here on PIL in a while. I am very busy with my other hobbies - Family History research, feeding the wild birds in our garden & spending time with my rescued wild pigeons (hopefully to be released.) These pursuits have also kept me from doing much in the way of painting in recent years.

All my paintings here were done a while ago except for the 2 challenge paintings (when PIL still had that challenge option.)

best wishes to you all, cheerio Carola

A few of my paintings (not as many) are also on two different sister websites (each with slightly different art buying options) :
Member since December 2010, and a Gold Member.
Latest comment One of my earliest memories is of walking with my Dad through such a bluebell wood when I was very young. Lovely composition Carola! Happy Christmas to you and yours! Sue Turner
