I believe that art holds the key to understanding the world around us, everytime I put brush to canvas or pencil to paper something wonderful happens I see the world in all its glory as if for the first time. When I stand and gaze at a scene which I am about to put to paper my heart is always uplifted. I marvel at what I have been given as an artist for inspiration, an entire world of ever changing beauty.

When I visit galleries at home or around the world I stand and look intently at the works and try to feel what the artist saw when he first decided to put paint to canvas. What was he feeling, what was he really saying, what influenced him in this work.

My greatest wish is to be able to stand totally on my own and gaze in rapture at the Mona Lisa and feel what so many have felt before.

I firmly believe that art is for everyone and there is no such thing as a poor or bad painting only ones that have lost their way and need to be given a chance to find their way into our hearts. I think art should be accepted for what it is, a personal view one which not always fits my view but never the less has every right to be expressed.

My greatest pleasure is having my eight year old granddaughter with me on a painting expedition and to watch her paint with pure innocence.
