I have been drawing since I was a child. I have never had any formal training,I just paint what I feel, Think,or have some kind of memory pop through. What I like about that is that my light can come from anywhere I want. Sometimes I have no idea where the idea comes from ,I'll start a painting and it turns out completely different than what I had planned. My mom used to give me 2 pieces of good paper to draw on, so I learned to draw small so I could tell myself stories. I was the only child in a family of 5 that was supposed to go to college to study art but alas, true love came along and I got married very young had children and did'nt start painting until about 10 yrs ago. It was always a dream and then when I got kidney cancer ,I thought well if I'm ever going to be a famous painter I better get going HA1 HA! I'm fine ,happy and found out what I was missing in my life drawing and painting I have met so many wonderful people since I got back into it. Good artist friends,I am very fortunate and now this great site Margaret Ulman

Latest comment Lovely painting, vibrant and nostalgic to look at, with the old wooden shed and bird bath,a butterfly hovering, then a garland of flowers in front of the house. Angela Susan Harrison

Do you always get perfect likeness when doing portraiture and if not do you start all over again or make the most of it as it is?
I guaranty you that this is in no way a perfect likeness. Certainly that is what cameras are for. I do not think making perfect likenesses has anything to do... view answer
