People like art for all sorts of reasons, but for me art is about communication. I like art that communicates to me. It can be ideas, feelings, mood, atmosphere or personalities. In particular I like art that presents a new perspective. Art that is original and "outside the square". I think artists should try to produce something unique that reflects their true feelings and perspectives.

When I’m painting I try to capture a feeling, mood or essence. I concentrate strongly on this essence as I’m painting and try to make it flow into the artwork – with varying degrees of success!

I paint because I am constantly getting images that come to me and I feel the need to paint them. Many of my ideas for paintings come from dreams or when I’m in that brief state between sleep and wakefulness when imagination reigns free. I use symbolism in many of my paintings and I try to achieve an "organic" quality in them.
