Myself, Brother and My Sister when younger

A birthday gift for my sister.
This was very hard to do. I hope they both enjoy and don't think I made them ugly.. comments please.. :)

Hi my dear friend.. Yes this was very hard to do. I thought I would never get it right or done. It was the best I could do with the watercolors.. Now off to something easier and fun. I surely hope my brother and sister don't think I made them ugly..

The two things I keep in mind is with this medium you start with your lights and build to your dark's and then make sure your water is your friend.. Hi Chrisann, thanks for commenting on my work, yes I do sometimes use layers of wash in my watercolors, this is not termed glazing, glazing is for oils. Layers of wash is the general way watercolors are used, always working from light to dark, and from dark to light in oils, where the oil color is mixed with a medium to create thin transparent glaze, almost always used over a dry surface. Watercolor uses the white of the paper to create light and there are various mediums for WC but I don't use any.

Hi Janet~ Your so welcome. However I have heard many times from watercolor artist teachers that the layering with watercolors is also referred to as glazing.. So maybe I was informed wrong once again. hum... so thank you.
I use the transparent watercolors so the white of the paper comes through my colors capturing a depth and special look and my white area's I will either leave the white of the paper or paint in a deeper white with paint.. So many different area's to use this. Thank you for helping me and to correct a mistaken term with this glazing... makes you think... hugs :)

Janet~ I looked into this more and your so right.. once again a teacher whom doesn't use watercolors much gave me wrong info once again.. So others be careful on some information your given.. they are not always correct.. thank you again Janet :)

I am a self taught artist. My new medium is with watercolors. I have been working with this medium for a little over a year.
I love to paint and draw. Its relaxing to me and a way to release and express on canvas to share with the world.
I am excited to be apart of this site and I have met wonder inspiring friends. I treasure all the support you give me. It means a lot.
