I am a 65 year old self taught artist, who started painting on clothing as a form of therapy to help me deal with chronic back pain.If you have time come read about me and how I deal with my chronic pain on my website. I gradually worked my way up to paintings on walls then canvas. Always used acrylics until 10 months ago when I started to use oils. I had my own art show for 6 months and have won several ribbons at art shows,at 64 I am proud of that.I have a wonderful family who support me fully. My husband is alawys wanting me to push the envelope and expand my talents. I sometimes think he thinks I can do the the undoable. You would laugh at the way I paint, because of chronic back pain I have to sit on the couch with the canvas on my lap no matter how large it is. Sometimes I have to rest it against an easel but I cannot stand nor sit in front of an easel to paint.I was a hairdresser, makeup artist and model before the car accident that took all of this away from me over 35 year ago. I think that is why I enjoy colour, faces and have an active imagination.
The feedback and support of other artists is very important to my growth and I appreciate it all.
I once had an artist who thought no one could paint as well as her. She told me one of my paintings might look good in someones basement!. That painting took first prise in the fair. I didn't however paint for a long time after. I am not afraid of critisism but not the destrutive kind. I finally decided that her unkind words were not going to keep me from doing what I enjoyed so much. So here I am again.
In my spare time I sell a product called Sodastream Home Soda Makers I also believe in doing what we can to save our planet and this is my contribution. www.sodastreamcanada.net
