Approaching Spring - Song Thrushes and Camellias by Dick Twinney

Approaching Spring - Song Thrushes and Camellias

Well, now my Rosellas have flown back to Australia I can continue with my real work.
CORNISH WILDLIFE THROUGH THE YEAR
What I intend to do over the coming year is share with my PIL friends my passion for the part of the world in which I live and its wildlife.
Every two weeks I will upload a new nature painting relevant to the time of year. A sort of Nature Diary.
Beginning with this February painting.
Approaching Spring - Song Thrushes and Camellias.
The Camellias are now coming into flower and the birds are pairing up for the coming nesting season, as with these featured Song Thrushes.
This is a scene from our own garden.
The little white flowers are Herpatica some of the earliest plants to flower in the year.
Watercolour on Arches paper.

Just brilliant work my friend. Love the concept of a Nature Diary. It works so well with your art. You DO have calanders of your art, don't you? The attention to detail is what I am alwyas drawn to and you have it here in spades! That you do such detail work in watercolor is just astounding to me. Can hardly wait for March! *LOL

This is just so beautiful - I have Camellias in my garden but the Song Thrush has only made passing visits so far. But we did have him and his family nearby last year, so here's hoping! This is just lovely Dick - thank you for brightening my evening. I have yet to paint a Song Thrush - maybe soon ...

Many thanks Davidina,

Hi Dick, A beautiful floral and bird scene! Gorgeous camellias .... 5 ***** I'm really pleased if you see some sense of style emerging in the seascape. This is so hard to do - it is one of the things that has deterred me in the past - they tend to look like everyone else's seascape. It's odd, I seem to enter more a a fantasy world when I paint the sea - more so than the flowers - so I will try and keep doing that. Your pal, Mike
6 months
Thanks Mike,
Yes, I couldn't agree more, a definite style is emerging in your seascapes, I can see that you are really enjoying the challenge, keep entering your fantasy world it's paying off. You have a lot more freedom painting the sea than flowers.
All the best,
Dick.

Dick I wish i could bottle you and paint like this!! It's divine and I love the stories and the idea of a seasonal theme. Now the camellias of course we have here but do far better in Melbourne where it's colder, and the Thrush..so far I haven't seen in Aussie. But I remember it's beautiful song in New Zealand. This is stunning and delightful makes my heart feel warm. 5***** plus plus. smiles Margaret.

Lovely as usual, Dick. But I find it quite astonishing that camellias are already flowering in your garden: it really shows up the difference between Cornwall and Yorkshire: up here there is nothing but cold and not even the snowdrops are peaking out of the earth yet... I look forward to following the promised monthly paintings!
