This painting is bold Steve... using all the space and very nice texture to it. As I understand it, Wes (one of our beloved sons here in Oklahoma) plays a part in Avatar, which I've not seen yet. The guy seems to be in the biggest and best doesn't he? Well for sure, you depicted him here - the proud Indian brave... perhpas from Dances With Wolves or Last of the Mohicans portrayals. ^5s

Artist Statement
for shhightower
shhightowerBorn in Tulsa Oklahoma 1949, started painting at an early age, with no formal training. Hightower works in oil, acrylic, ink, watercolor, and pencil. In addition to his Western work, he has created a series of oil paintings, illustrations to the Old and New Testaments. He and his wife Teresa installed these paintings on a rotating basis in churches in their home area, free of charge.
I also played drums professionaly for 33 years. Played the Dallas Ft. Worth area, Houston, Waco and all over Oklahoma, Started playing in Arizona at age 14, in "64 we cut 4 singles on the Pride label. Worked with Charlie Pride, Johnnie Lee Wills, Billy Parker, at Cain's Ballroom, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
I produce a line of artist signed lodge furniture and accessories since 1979 to present date, I have it on a myspace site, please feel free to add me.
