Great work, warm colors wishing that winter ends in order to get back to the summer heat. The contrasts of light are fabulous

Artist Statement
for Sadie Ingham
Sadie InghamI am a 21 year old artist from Derbyshire. My chosen medium is usually acrylics on wood but often whatever I feel works with the current painting. Landscapes, Seascapes and Boats are the main theme throughout my paintings however I do like to experiment with other subjects, Avoiding being categorised as a particular type of artist, I'm interested in everythign around, taking hundreds of photographs wherever I go of anything that interests me. I'm currently doing a lot of portrait work using a variety of different mediums and mixed media.

I have been painting for the last 5 years and for the last 12 months have been painting full time for myself where I developed my painting skills through different experiences, people and places.
Last year I returned from a year studying at Chelsea College Of Art And Design in London, a very important and life changing experience where my view as an artist really changed.
I also have an A-level in Fine Art and in 3D Studies.
My first painting sale was in 'The North Of The Wall Art Prize', a Bi-Annual exhibition in Tynemouth which I took part in over the summer last year, where my painting 'Reflections' came out with great reviews from the many members of the public who visited the gallery. My painting was also the first in the exhibition to sell. I'm also currently the 'Featured Artist' on The North Of The Walls website which is a great honour.
Since then I have recieved many commission requests including dozens of paintings, events posters for different venues and artwork for various bands. I also sell local artwork in Causeway House Crafts in Castleton and am hoping to spread that to more shops around the UK.

Most of my Pieces of work are of Seascapes, Boats and Landscapes. Its particularly noticeable in my art work that I look a lot at water and reflections, I like to make this the focal point in a majority of my work. The colours and the patterns that are produced from the reflections fascinates me, they give a distorted view of a real picture,This is particularly poignant when the real picture is that of hundreds of people getting on with their every day lives and huge buildings in the background and the still and calm waters reflecting this back at us in the foreground.
As I said previously, I often like to use wood with acrylics as the chosen medium for my work. The grain of the wood and the acrylic paint are, to me, the perfect combination. I also sometimes like to leave parts of the wood exposed incorporating it in to a piece of my landscape or seascape work.
If I do this I tend to use natural coloured woodstains and varnishes also sometimes water colours which soak throught the wood and outlines every grain and flaw in the wood, much like nature itself.
