hm, after the green and jewel like drop of water, now you come up with pink and golden yellow....to be honest, this is not my color combination.....but the execution of the pastel work is marvelous, Katerina and oh so tender and soft....I am glad that you feel gladness and express it this precious way....
OK, I would like telling you why I am not in love with pink? and the pure readymade colors, OK? I must say, that I have learned in my 30 years and more lasting color studies (Goethe, Steiner, Marc, Runge and many more authors and artists), that first of all, one should never use the clean and clear colors out of the box....tube or pot....mix it just a bit and make it your own individual color....especially the pink is a very tricky color and looks often very sweet when it's on it's own...mixed with green or grey it's ok, (thinking about the tradition how one paints the human skin in the older days.....pink plus green!) I won't make it too long...but take it as a serious hint and maybe you can try out another one in this sense!....I hope you still love me?
WOW! Simply beautiful, so peaceful, so beautifully executed. Your work is simply moving and it touches me everytime! This flower portrays everything we should feel, it is very beautiful!
Love the flow of the pastel pinks in this composition, Katerina! The petals produce a feeling of 'Gladness' and are delicate in their Beauty! A really nice, soft array of Pinks and reds in this flower. It is interesting how the yellows blend with the pinks, and amazing! Well done! 5***** Regards Angela
Well I must say - holy gee hoss a fats - what a great work. I want to go back to Chris's comment just for a moment. I fully agree with everything he had to say. I am presently moving into Pastels and trying to apply all of my years of color theory to them. The style of Degas in placing pure stroke next to each other to render may be good for what he intended but to get down and dirty is also ok. Now this work is truly YOU and YOUR sensitivity to color and style and stands well placed. I also like pink but I have my own flavor of the color. Katerina this is a very melancholy work but also a wonderful journey thru the delicate and flowing marks.
I should tell that I am very interested in colour theory. In my works I am guided more by a feeling of colour than correctness of its use. May be it is my problem or may be it is simply my way to find correct colours. But I enjoy colour and I use that colour which I feel during this moment in certain work and with certain mood. I not often think of "correctness". I am very glad to read your words, Steven, thank you very much.
Color is like make-up - you know the stuff you apply to your face to cover up all of the beauty (well at least that is what I tell my wife and two daughters). Color is very personal and the theory is there for more of the traditional artists and some who develop colors they like from the study of theory. I am impressed by your selection of this primary color in this work, for it tells much of your inner feelings and desires - something every artist strives for...
Hello Katerina, I like your colour combo I live in the North East of England and we are blessed with wonderful sunsets, often when driving home after dropping my grandaughter off I see these colours in the sky I never get tired of gazing up at the sky,(not when driving LOL)Also my grandaughter chose yellow and pink for her bedroom and of course she is VERY bright.regards Linda
Struggling through winter :) Searching for inspiration on this site... looking at your painting... Really gives warmth and smiles to my heart... :) Hope that you are fine!! But looking at this painting I would definitely say so :)
I just can't get over this - what an experience! Summer seems such a long way away today, here in cold, frozen North of England. And then Katerina, I discover your flower - and I feel warm, and blessed by an invisible Sun. And Henry, I think the flower could also be a Chrysanthemum? If not, it must be a Dahlia after all!!
