Guarding Future Memories

Memories being created in the present...Knowing that the moment will not last but only in the future as memories of the past.. Loves, lives, hopes and regrets all passing and becoming nothing but memories cherished, not forgotten.

I think the tropics and the beauty of the feminine gender are always on your mind. But what about the Hungarian soldier in the back? ( correct me when i am wrong about that this is a Hungarian soldier )His he part of the memorie to.

Thank you for so closely examining this painting. You are right, it is a Hungarian soldier, specifically a"huszar", a well loved historic/folk figure in much of Hungarian popular myths. In the painting he is the "guardian" of memories. Not to say that he stands in for me, but let's just say that since I am Hungarian, he represents certain values, morals, expectations and cultural myths.

igen, a hatterre dolgozom fel az atlatso reteget...mint a termeszeti valosag. A test szineket is igy erem el, kezdve az arnyekokkal, es aztan alap szinekkel, halvanyan, feher lazur allomasok fole a tovabbi szineket.
Hosszadalmas, de vibrans szinak az eredmeny. Tehat nem a felszint festem, hanem "elo" szineket, melyek tobb szinbol allo eredmenyek.

It is as you say and it is as the next person says. It is but the idea of the moment as it came to me to paint it and the rest is up to the onlooker to interpret. True form of surrealism is automatic painting driven by the subconscious.

Many things come to mind - so I will go with this first thought.The woman and ocean - birth-rhythm of life and things to come, closely guarded. Artist Statement
for Csaba Kertesz

Canada

Born in Hungary during the Stalinist era.
Parents brought me to Canada after the 1956 Revolution. Art schooling in Toronto and years of graphic art jobs followed.
Went to tour Europe for 21/2 years with my second wife. Exhibited in London, Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Lagos (Portugal), Marbella (Spain), Rome, Budapest, New York, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa.
Figurative Surrealism is the way of expressing my thoughts, impulses, fantasies.
Automatic expressions of subconsciousness with a pen, chalk or paint brush. Nudity suggests purity or raw emotions without the cloak of false pretensions. I use the technique of GLAZING - thin translucent layers of pure colour, intermittently separated by varnish to give dept to the colour layers.
I have art directed over 45 feature films in North America and Europe.
I lived in Hungary between 2001 and 2005. I returned to Canada and live in Ottawa with my new Hungarian wife and three young children. Creativity in Art is the meaning of my life and expressing myself in my work is my means of survival
