My art is about a poetic, dreamy experience. It's about the flow and interest of what is beautiful or captivating to my eye. I am riveted by faces, people, textures. I am intoxicated by color, the color relationships, harmonies and what they reveal. I am largely a colorist of sorts in that how I paint is just as much the subject as the central figure of a given painting, how thick or thin, watery or opaque a work will be and what that indicates to the viewer. How painting flesh tones is like icing on cake, so layered and enticing is this richness of skin that it often becomes the focus of my work. I like to combine elements of nature, animal life and figurative work in combinations that through their juxtapositions create new contexts, new meaning and significance and mystery.
