This is lovely and I think you should do more flowers with the same technique. Id love to see you do a purple floral, being my favorite color. I admire you for getting such great results with acrylic. I never learned how to use them correctly. But this is beautiful Henny.
Do you really like it Joan? While I was painting it I asked myself where I was going also because there was a rather large piece of paper to cover. I will do a search for purple flowers and see if I have the courage to start another acrylic. Thank you for the comment and the vote.
To me you have just the right balance between realism and impressionism. I personally like to do that with portraits, very detailed features and then an abstract background. I have to try it with a floral soon.
Really love these Sunflowers, Henny! The colours are rich and glowing, and have produced a textured effect! Like the way the petals project and open out, and one can feel the softness of the Sunflowers! Nice to try another medium, and it is another experience mixing and blending, and rendering textures. Art is so versatile, and we can learn something new every time we start a new subject. Most of my Life it has always been sketching, but once one comes into painting, then things take on a different meaning. All the best with your Acrylics! 5***** Regards Angela Susan
Thank you, Angela. Acrylics are so different from watercolors, especially when they are applied without water. It makes it difficult if not impossible to draw fine lines. That is when I used water to dilute the paint.
I say that your sunflowers are terrific. I had a heck of a time with mine and you make it look so easy. I like your texture and color - I think you and acrylics do great work together. Blessings to you, CJ
Hello Henny, Well, for a start, I think that you should think this a beautiful floral painting. Moreover, if you should think that, then I would tend to agree. :-)
Henny~ I think this is so beautiful! I know you can paint using any medium.. This is truly beautiful sunflowers! Excellent job 5*** My favorite painting now ;)
Henny these Sunflowers are Lovely!! They caught my eye instantly. You have a great feel for the acrilics. I love how the colors go from almost transparent to a deep richness. I also like the sunny spring feeling this painting projects. A very Fine piece indeed, Lin
Hi Henny, the results are absolutely wonderful. I think you have captured the essence of the sunflower, bright, cheerfull and always a joy to look at. Regards, Les
Lovely Henny! One of my favourite flowers! I know you've used acrylic, but it looks like watercolour. This is bright, sunny and beautiful! Looks finished to me!
Love your sunflowers! When I do them in watercolours, I use a little wax crayon on the pettals and in the centre. It then becomes mixed media, but one gets the blazing brightness!I like the turquoise blue in the background but feel that it might have been broken by a little of the green which you have on the right....even just two leafy bits peeping out to the left under the middle flower. This will break the large negative space of the blue and anchor the flowers to the left. But, all said, it is so beautiful!
Hi Henny...I thought I would drop by and look at some of your art since you were so kind to respond to my questions in here. I love this painting as it is so vibrant and the subject matter is, well, just beautiful. Keep up the good work and thanks again for your input! :-)
