this portrait I made for somebody and I almost finish it ,I would like to get any comments that would help me to improve it and make any important changes before I give it away
thank you Daniel, for your nice comment on my work i haven't really found where to thank people, in the right place yet but I will get there lol Zeeka. Your new portrait here has wonderful deeply felt thoughts we feel like we have to decipher lovely work.
Excellent, Daniel,,I love his expression,,there is a feeling of great wisdom ,here.Lovely light on his face, you use great colors, Daniel.. I'm thinking that it looks ,'done', my friend!!5***** Sincerely, Doris
Being a novice I question my opinion more than others...however I believe that the color palette you used throughout gives me a sense of power as well as respect...I see the power in his face and the respect in your hand as you created this piece...your pastel work is inspiring
WOW!This painting is top of yours!Very effective portrait! No add nothing, please! This is just perfect!Love this face and your remarcable style,my dear friend Daniel! Many, many, many stars ...!!!!All the best for you,Ankica
beautiful portrait. love the movement and painterly strokes. question: where are the light source came from? Like to see some hints of shoulder? maybe you did, but like to see it with a little more light. excellent done. 5*****
thank you Oldivad, the main light basically coming from the back ,little bit from the left side of the portrait, your comment about the shoulders will be very helpfull for me,thank you once again
Hi Daniel...it's a great portrait, you've captured his soul in his eyes...I love it...just a wee thing... bring the eyelid down a little at the outside corner of his left eye (just a suggestion that you can ignore if you want) :)
The painting looks complete to me. It is like Picasso is reported to have once said - a painting is never finished, the artist just finally gets tired of working on it and gives up. Or words to that effect.
Daniel this is one of your best...definitely...and i agree with the comment Oldivad made about the light on his shoulder...just a touch.....it is wonderful and has a real sensitivity to itxxxx
Love your pastel work in this Daniel! I particularly like the way you have the movement of your lines. I admire perfect realism art, but your style has got that "edge" that creates such interest. My kind of drawing, as I've never been neat! Oh, by the way this looks great and I don't think you need do anymore.
Wow ..Daniel maybe this one to be came my favorite, such personality, great captured, fantastic style.Love all your fantastic artworks, you are great artist.5***** OUTSTANDING !!!! Best regards!;-)
Wow, your man painting power is incredible. Deeply expressive!Your brush is following a "mad" dance on his face in order to improve his strong personality illustrating great colour qualities and expressive details. Just marvellous! Regards, Jolign
Love how bold you are with your colours in all your portraits this one especially, gives a very dramatic effect and lots of character, I would suggest possibly narrowing the dark shadow where the head meets the hat or introducing greater variation in tone, to me the hat doesnt quite sit on the hairline right? Not sure if this helps, I also think you've created an amazing portrait just as it is! S.x
Expressive and powerful face. What I can tell, is this portrait quite complete. I do not think you need to make any changes or additions ... Regards, Leif
Another fabulous painting from you Daniel, I love pastels have done a couple, but nowhere near as accomplished as yours, where do you start with something like this?
A very powerful image Daniel and a great portrait with a feeling of history to it.The shoulders thing mentioned by Oldivad would just finish the work beautifully. Excellent piece of work but then you alway show great skill in your work. angela
i can see oldivad point about light but i was so drawn to the eyes and face the yellows and reds give warmth and the whites give me wisdom. its not easy to know when to stop the danger is to over work it.love the free strokes you use in your work. excellent. lynn
Lovely portrait with wonderful line effect, and great use of colour to portray 'Rabbi' in pastel, Daniel! Nice, effective style. 5***** Regards Angela Susan
wonderful study of the Rabbi, changing this would i feel would be its detroment, and undoing, as line and the visual are one, Contrasts of blocking areas such as shaddow are another and entiraly a different form of portraiture. For this, i feel such power as line, and as such it looks very powerful, almost daunting, If thats the feel that your thinking of as his persona, A lighter more freindly Rabbi, would look less powerful, If you were to use another medium, and/ or lighter colours and less shadowy feel, and would defiantly, have a smiling type of face, which would look freindlier as a person, eg: the face of an angle, or of a child like apperance. well done for your attempts keep trying, and you will get the feel that you feel suits the Rabbi jarestar
Fantastic Daniel as usual. Just love this pastel portrait that has your unique signature. Love the colours and everything else about it. 5 stars over and over. Pam:)
Daniel, I am glad to join your group. This portrait is fantastic. The splashes of color (especially the streaks of flesh tones mixed into the silver of the beard) are very well placed. I agree with the commenter who suggested that some highlights on the shoulder (on the right side of the piece) may help a little, but I hadn't even thought about it until I read that comment. One way or another, it is a beautiful portrait.
Daniel, I truly appreciate your lovely comment on wallflower. Not sure how I missed your latest work of the Rabbi. A little different this time from your beautiful women portraits, but this is very unique again with the wonderful detail and colours. You've got a special flair and talent!
Daniel, I like this portrait a lot. You have done an excellent job and I by no means am qualified to give you any advice on how to improve it. It is excellent from what I can tell, great style and typicaly you. 5*****
I love this painting of yours Daniel. The face has strong, yet gentle features. His eyes show a man with determination who has weathered many a storm. His beard is richly textured and beautifully painted..you can see the strands.I adore his warm headgear..looks very Russian. The whole composition is excellent Daniel.Your eye for detail comes across so beautifully in your portraits.k8
Daniel, aside from the expressive elements of this, it's electric. Your kind words touch me more and more, and your work exerts integrity and talent in YOU!
Dear Daniel, I feel that this piece is finished, Dan, and your style is so original and awesome to me...don't change anything on this 5* piece...that's just my opinion...lol, Warm regards, Judith
Love the colours in this, portrait painting is difficult but you have made this look effortless and freely done, I think the work is complete and does'nt need any more
Daniel this is truly wonderful as they others say you have your very own style and I like how it has formed over time - your work truly takes my breath away
You have done a fabulous job on this rabbi. I am sure it will be accepted with much enthusiasm. I see your talent for capturing the essence of a subject. Great work, as usual. Blessings, CJ
Needs no changing, remember less is better most of the time especially with pastels. He's perfect as he is. Quit looking at him for a few days, and then STANDBACK and look. That's why my website is maryannstandbackart and my copyright is STANDBACKART (C). Up close my art looks juvenile, but standing back, and it looks great. Like it, loveit, leave it alone.
IO personalmente avrei alleggerito un p0' il colore dello sfondo, ottenendo il quadro più luce .Molto bello il soggetto e complimenti per la profondità dello sguardo. Un saluto Lino Molena
This is fantastic work, so strong and energetic in the pastel work. You asked for comments before you give it away. I had a look, I think there is a lot of shadow on the left side of the face in the image you are working from. My only comment is: on the left eye the iris might need about 1/16th of colour for balance with the right, and the left side of the beard just needs rounding out a little. For me it looks a little flat in the shadow area.
Daniel, I love all of your marvelous portraits, but this one really caught my eye...so much personality and unique style..very nicely done...5*****!!!!! -George
