my attempt at reproducing this classic masterpiece. water colour on card, size 20x31.5 inches.not yet completed some advice would be appreciated on how to make it have that final sparkle.
To add highlights, mask off some areas of the paper before you start to paint, so the actual white of the paper provides highlights, you need to get more contrast in certain areas where the light and shadow meet, and that will make the whole painting pop. Leave highlights in the trees and the water, etc. Hope this helps some. I am not an expert in watercolor, but you are right, a little more "sparkle" is essential. The painting is very very nice though.
great work peter, something I would not try myself and get those pastals out you may supprise yourself. thanks for your comment on my pastal regrds Ricky
You've done a pretty good job here as Constable is a very hard act to follow! I like expressionism but, alas, I'm not that good at the style - though I try! Anyhow, well done. A definate 5*!
Hi Peter I hope you are well? what a beautiful painting you should be well pleased with yourself. Thank you for your comment and for your support of me and TSX, your work will also be in the exhibition so lets hope we sell many paintings. your friend Ricky
There is a " je ne sais quoi" in this piece. Like when you touch a nerve or step on a stingray, striking by its composition, its subtle colors and its narrative qualities....
