Marilyn by dian bernardo

Marilyn

Original acrylic painting 12"x16" on a canvas board......One of the greatest sex symbols of all time. If I painted her without her Hollywood look, you would never recognize her. But her eyes tell you who she really was. A sad, scared and lonely person. Possibly a victim of destiny, but mostly of herself. I have always been fascinated of what goes on behind the scenes in life.

Gorgeous portrait of Marilyn. Dian!!!! You can see a vulnerability in her eyes...she was a victim of so many circumstances and so many people...I always thought that her abilities as an actress were too often overlooked because of her sex symbol image...well, I'm enjoying her memory right now, thanks to this beautiful portrait...very nicely done, Dian....5***** for you!!! -George

Thanks so much for your wonderful comments. I certainly agree that she was an over exploited person and should also be remembered for her other good qualities.

Thanks for your lovely comments. I hope her eyes are brown. I came across a photo of her in an old copy of ladies home journal and was inspired to paint her. As far as I could see, she had brown eyes? Best wishes.

My hair is flat, so I like seeing BIg hair. In fact, in my own work, the women have to have big hair or it's about the hair in some way. Great job on all parts of this work.

Unmistakenly Madelyn! Those eyes give it away. Have you ever listen to a song by Elton John called "Good Bye, Norma Jean"?
