Hello Bridget, That was a very pleasant surprise to see your name here as this particular painting has not created any interest, it has been here for over a year. This beach is in a World heritage area and is stunning, but I don't think I have done justice to it. Thanks for stopping by, I do appreciate it. Warm regards, Nyra

Hello Loretta, Thanks for your comments. I love doing rocks, am working on on at the moment from around the same area- more rocks! My pleasure to invite you to the group. I see you have a cat- we are very much alike then. We have the most loved, pampered puss on this earth! Warm regards, Nyra~

Simply beautiful Nyra, love the lighting - the sort of beach you could stay on for hours, just watching the waves lapping ! big hug leonora x

Hello Leonora, You are right it is the sort of beach you want to stay on for hours, unfortunately I have not walked on it, only looked down on it from a lookout, my son took this photo. It is a cross country hike and a challenging one to get there. Gary goes surfing all around the island, so I rely on him for photos of beaches that I am never likely to visit. This is not a surfing beach, but he happened to be in the area. Big hug x Nyra,

Great job! Beautiful landscape!

Many thanks Svitlana, you are correct that it is a beautiful landscape, but I have not justice to it's full beauty, it needs to be a panoramic shot as the beach curves round..

Hello Nyra when I saw this I thought it was a new one and am so pleased to see that it is getting so many lovely comments now. This is really a lovely painting and well done on the front rocks. Warm regards Cyril

Happy Easter Cyril and thank you for commenting. ! Yes this is a "recycled" one. I should do a panoramic version of it as this does not do justice to the beach.Imagine what you could do with it, with your skill and pastels!! I am back working on my beach series and will have a couple to upload very soon. Warmest regards my friend, Nyra

Hello Peter, this is not a new one, just one I have recycled from the gallery, This beach has been listed on Lonely Planet as one of the most beautiful in the world. Take care and hope you have a wonderful Easter too. We have warm, balmy weather which is very unusual, but we are not complaining!.. Warmest regards, Nyra

Beautiful Nyra, it may not be new, but it deserves another spell in the spotlight. It is a beautiful painting, the light you have captured on the hills in the background, and the sparkle in the water, and the wonderful colour of the water makes this a scene I would love to be able to step into. Fond regards, John

Always lovely to hear from you Barbara, glad you like this one, I have just uploaded another beach scene, it is on the same coast as this beach. I wish I lived closer to them as it is a lovely part of Tasmania. Warm regards, Nyra

I like the contrast of the sharply defined rocks in the foreground vs. the more vaguely outlined mountains in the background.

Hi Roger after viewing your cat, I have decided that my work is very boring, but many thanks for stopping by and commenting. Glad you like it. I have probably asked you before if you have been to Tasmania ? Cheers, Nyra

Not been to Tassie yet but would love to have a look at that special place, off to Melbourne later this year, just for a look.

I love this one Nyra out of all of them so far. Reminds me a lot of the coast near Parsons Beach near Adelaide, on the south coast. I used to surf there and apart from the hills being larger the rest is the same. anyway excellent work. Cheers Sharon x

Hi Sharon , it is true of the expression that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as we all have different ideas. You like this one, yet it has not been popular at all, so thank you very much for your lovely comments. I love Adelaide and have had a couple of holidays thee, but do not know Parson's Beach.
Lucky you going to Greece next year, I still think that our holiday there way back in 1990 island hopping and a tour of the mainland was the best we have ever had. Italy is not far behind it either!. Cheers, Nyra xx

You truly mastered painting the shores, dearest Lady Nyra. Here the glow of light, almost mysterious, draw me into this painting. Such a nice and serene scenery, a perfect place to be! With great compliments from Christiane

Artist Statement
for Nyra Aherne
Nyra AherneI hope through my paintings of Tasmania that I will encourage my artist friends to come and see the beauty of the state for yourselves. Unfortunately because we are so small with a population of just over 510,000 in the whole state, we are inclined to get forgotten and overseas visitors flock to the big mainland cities and miss our natural beauty. Lonely Planet have just listed Tasmania as No 4 of their list of 10 best places to visit in the World, so come and see the beauty for yourselves.-( In summer!)

Really don't know what I am doing here.. as I tried to keep it purely abstract, 'things' began to appear..is that a normal thing to overcome?
