Becalmed by Colin Cartwright

A brigantine sailing ship, needs a tow into the harbour by a steam tug.

The wind has dropped, and the old sailer needs the ‘new’ technology to get back.

Details of the ships from the old photos of Frank Sutcliffe, Victorian master photographer.

Watercolour, 140lb semi-rough paper, 8×12 inches.
Daler Rowney, artist quality pan paint.

For sale.

Great atmospheric light and reflections. The details on the sailing ship are wonderful and blends very well with the overall composition.

Just beautiful Colin and yes I would have this on my wall ( see our previous discussion! )...I have sailed all my life, lived in Falmouth UK where there were still some Tall Ships around, and married a husband who knew all about them! Into my favourites it goes!

This painting receives a disproportionate number of comments. As it's permanently stuck at the top of my page. Many of my more recent, much more difficult paintings, get 6 or 10.
I will be deleting this one soon.
For this reason I'm not uploading any more.

for Colin Cartwright
Colin CartwrightI started painting a few years ago.

I enjoy creating paintings. Producing them from a blank paper and a brush!

I paint landscapes, real and fantasy, seascapes, ships, trains and buildings. Always with lots of varying light.

It's great getting feedback from others.

Originals are available to buy or prints.
