Angelic Vision by Pat Newhouse

Angelic Vision

I have been wanting to paint an angel for quite a while. I feel as if this one just wanted to be seen and painted. I just let it just come through. My husband says that she looks very familiar as if he has seen her before. I hope you like her.

Terrific, and very unique!! Most would go white with wings, but the pikish wings go so well with the hair. Nice action too!

After passing up this painting many times without leaving a comment I couldn't leave it anymore. I just had to stop on by and leave a comment. This painting..I don't know what it is but it is very powerful and attractive. It keeps grabbing my eyes. It is very spiritual feeling seeing this angelic person looking at me. I love the red hair and the glowing heart with an "eye" in it. What captures me most is the face. For some weird reason, she looks familiar to me too, as though I've seen her somewhere. I don't know where or when? I can't remember. Just feel like I've seen her, not know her but just seen her. Weird. Great job though.

Artist Statement
for Pat Newhouse
Pat NewhouseAfter I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in fine art I decided that I had to find out who I really was as an artist. I decided that I would go back to the basics and just work in black and white for a while, mostly pen and ink. Eventually I felt the need to add color back into my work. I gravitated to colored pencil because they were an easy medium to clean up after. For several years my workspace dictated what type of medium I could work in. So colored pencil has been my medium of choice. Now I am working in pastels as well as acrylic. Collage is another medium which gives me a balance and an outlet from the detailed drawings which I love to do. Now I am at the point in my artistic career where I am ready to put...

What do you think of art classes using other peoples work for teaching, is it a good idea to see how other artist form paintings or should they try to be...
I can almost 'smell' this painting Graham. It is very very good. I do not like the idea of using other peoples work for teaching or for anything else really. ... view answer
