wow, i wouldnt know where to start having never tried portraits etc, but this to me is really 'alive'. A really clever use of colour and brushwork, brings so much light to her face, extrordinary, i really love it Jo, just beautiful x

Paintings portraits is like anything else I guess... a matter of shapes and tones. The hard bit is to objectify the actual person enough to do this. I am still coming to grips with this.

This is what i call amazing artistic work!! The effect the colours, all the blues, purple and orange has on this painting is amazing. The white, yellows and light blue you
have painted in her face als has an wonderful effect of light.
All come together with bold brushstrokes! Well done!

Jo - I absolutely love your loose expressive style here, Gaynor must have been so chuffed with her portrait - I undertook a personal self portrait exploration last year, see on PIL and looking at this, I am going right back to my easle to do some more ! cheers Carol

for Jo Murray
Jo MurrayI found this site via my friend from way back (Hi Debbie Alston). Am amazed by the talent out there, and honoured to be part of the group.
This is not the painting I wanted make of James. It is accurate but the effect is rather like coloured pencil. I found myself drawing ( rather than painting)...
Hi Peter a fine portrait with a level of accuracy and expression...and sometimes one has to draw with a paint brush in a defined way in order not to get away... view answer
