Contextual Statement

The conceptual base that underpins my work is the understanding of the process of perception. I believe that objects or ideas that we perceive through our senses not only give us information but also give us aesthetic pleasure. I am passionate about creating a dialogue between the viewer and my paintings. I acknowledge that this dialogue may not accord with my own conception as cultural and social backgrounds will inevitably differ. I aim to confront and challenge the viewers' perception and through this process give them aesthetic pleasure.

I admire Paul Gauguin for his personal sacrifice to pursue his art. His work has a major influence on my art. My aspiration is to push myself artistically...
