History Is Written By The Victor

This is a repainting of my original Three Swords. The original was one of the first I ever painted, this one is 6 months later on a 24X36 canvas.

Thank you so much, Gwen! What a nice thing to say. I am experimenting more now, but am always open to criticism and suggestions...

Dear Kerin, The only comment other than you are really growing as an artist, is that I was taught to avoid tangent lines, which are lines that kiss, such as the line that the hill the swords are on that bumps against the dark horizon line. this is a nice piece and so you might want to evaluate this comment and decide whether it would help your composition. Your clouds and trees are beautiful.

Deborah; Thank you so much for that piece of insight! I hadn't really thought about it, but you are absolutley correct. I would have offered a deeper perspective if I had either had the hill go higher or allowed more water to show beneath the horizon. It is definitely something I will keep in mind as I continue painting. Thanks, again! Truly appreciated. Sincerely, Karin

Artist Statement
for Karin Bayer
Karin BayerWell, it's 2014, and I am still painting! In Jan. of 2011, I received my first set of paints and brushes from my husband as a gift, and I have fallen in love with the simple joy of painting!
When I look back at my first pieces, I remember the need to finish a painting as fast as I could, so I would see the final result! Now, I am enjoying the leisure of creating a painting slowly, and watching the images appear clearly, one at a time. I guess that is part of the growth.
I am so happy to be a member of Paintings I Love. Here, I share my art work, and get the encouragement and discussion I am looking for to help keep myself going! Thank you to all the PIL members who take the time to share your knowledge and kindness with me every...
