The Sacre Couer from Rue... by Judith MacKay

The Sacre Couer from Rue Saint-Rustique Paris

Acrylic on canvas mounted and framed taken from a photograph I took when visiting Paris in October 2010. I adapted my photograph to show more of the dome of the Sacre Couer as the lighting was perfect that day

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I did use a bit of artistic licence with the buildings and this is my normal colour pallet particularly for places in Europe

Paris is stunning and I just love Montmartre. It was the first time I had been back since the early 70's

I particularly love the yellow / mauve combination in this picture and the rendering of the architecture is spot on - so beautiful! Best wishes, Louise

I was just there a couple of weeks ago. My favorite place in Paris. Interesting vertical direction - its sets it apart from other paintings of Sacre couer.

Artist Statement
for Judith MacKay
My paintings are in mainly acrylic and have recently started to use soft pastels and pastel pencils and really love this medium. For my subjects I draw on the numerous photographs I took whilst visiting South Africa, Spain, France and Italy and of course the UK where I live.
