AmyI never really know what to say in these little boxes!

I started drawing and painting as a youth. Opened my first studio at home when I was 14. Had to take a long-term break from steady work and selling to raise my family when I got into my mid-twenties.

I'm 50 now and have just returned to working in a home studio again. I work in quite a few different mediums and really do not have a particular favorite.

For me it is more about which medium will represent what I want a planned piece to 'say' or 'feel like'. I paint for myself, for the joy creating brings to me.
I'm self-taught and don't know a lot about painting. Can you give me advice about shadowing? I know you don't just use black. I heard somewhere that you use...
