Suzie, this is amazing, the textures you have created in the skin & the hair are brilliant.....His eyes are very piercing,but very soul-filled, pained,even spiritual! I have the feeling he defies us into action, knowing and seeing the faults of the world, by his wisdom of age......he is a compelling characer...

Artist Statement
for suzie nichols
I recently got back into drawing and painting when I retrained as a garden designer. I have attended classes in life drawing and water based oils as well as general drawing and painting classes. I draw and paint for relaxation and mainly for myself- my house is filling up with paintings I cannot bear to part with! I am open to occassionally taking commissions.
Many artists remark one must paint with some emotional connection to the subject. Usually I do however here I extracted a tiny corner of a large photograph....
the first thing that came to mind was clam... peaceful... not empty at all.. beautiful... wow, the water,,, I love all the color,,, the yellow building,,, the... view answer
