Artist Statement
for Jack Purvis
Jack PurvisI do not consider myself an artist. I leave that to those who set out on the path of dependence on their art for survival. I paint and draw with both of which I have a love/hate relationship.
Strange, for I have sold as many works I hated (failures) as those I loved.
I used to have an incinerator in the garden in which my disappointments ended up.
For a number of years I ran my own exhibitions and one reward was the people who visited talking to me about what they saw in my work.
I paint mainly in oil. Sometimes watercolour, very rarely acrylic.
My preference is narrative painting.
30% of any sales goes to the charity I support 'Cystic Fibrosis Trust'.

Can you mimic the buttery sheen of oil with acrylic. I have some areas on here that need it ( the red window sills in light) but I can't produce it - it dries...
