The Light of Decay by Rod Davis

The Light of Decay

35cm x 24cm. Acrylic.
This is a small, but long promised, present to a friend who has had an incredibly tough time in recent years. It is just to reassure her that death nurtures life and inside of the darkness there is always light to be found.
love this 5 *

I hope your friend liked the gift. Your painting is wonderfully expressive. It shows that even in the dark, if you find the light, you will see the other beautiful colours that are there also. XXX

Dear Rod, thanks for your comments on my work. Although you say that you are not really a religous person, through what you have done with this painting and the statement that goes with it, I am sure that you do believe in a Superior Force. By creating above painting and saying that after darkness there is always a light to be found....the Holy spirit inside you, made you create this and without you even knowing brought healing to your friend. Thanks for being who you are. Love it

Rod, this is a fabulously metaphysical abstract, and I appreciate your story behind it.

Thanks for looking through my work, and your intriguing comment on "Birch Forest." My art journey is just beginning, and I can see by your talent that you've finally "made it."

Thanks Rene...not sure that I've really made it yet...probably never will....an amatuer in the dark....I'm searching though. Thanks.

Hi Rod, when I looked at the thumbnail, I thought...oh no, not this ball thing again....:) sorry, that I say so, but I have seen that too often....but when I saw the bigger photo, then I quite liked what I saw! The 4 "round yellow forms are creating depth around the "colour fall" and this technique of letting run the colour down the canvas is opening up the most creative and therapeutic possibilities. You did that very well with good result... Maybe you have tried other variations of this subject? ....maybe you find better solutions for showing light......normally light isn't that limited...it should radiate...
8 months
Ha ha..."not the ball thing again"...made me laugh out loud!! No need to apologise...everyone is entitled to express an opinion. Thanks.

Thanks Mac. Today, in this little un-touristy Andalucian Peublo it'll push up close to the 40's....you learn to survive and love it.:-). You're face is familiar for some reason....do you Paraglide?? I regularly fly the thermals around these mountains and that's the only connection I can figure out.....or maybe, as you're ex military, perhaps Netheravon where I once regularly skydived with the Freds and Marines.....or perhaps you just have that kind of face. Anyway, good luck with your painting.

Wow, what a beautiful, awesome gift, with a loving message to a friend.
I see death is life in a new state of being. That all creation is connected. I love how you did this work. It reminds me of my concept in thought as I do some of my own abstracts. Love your work, Rod. Very stimulating.
