Spray of poppies in a Green Vase
My first exhibited piece of art. I entered this, without really thinking, in a floral exhibition in Melbourne - and it was accepted. Then I went to the opening night and cringed - the standard of painting was wonderful and I wished I could take my piece home. It happened that the Irish Rugby Team were in Melbourne. A few of the players attended the exhibition and purchased my painting for the club room office in Ireland. I was so excited, and very pleased that burly rugby players like flowers. The organisers of the exhibition were highly amused and noted that I gained an international reputation with a single painting. Oil 24 x 36
