I am wondering why I didn't comment on this yet. I think I've seen this painting before. It's just awesome Richard! I don't have the words to express. It is so beautiful. Stunning.

Thank you Rehanna, I'm glad you like it, I've painted quite a few mermaids over the years, the mythology has an appeal to me.

Artist Statement
for Richard Ficker
Richard FickerWith the exception of a painting class I took in high school I am a self taught artist. I have always looked at the world as an artist, light, shadow, color, and form, but was always to busy to paint. In 2002 at the age of 49 I started, and have been playing catch up ever since. I've started doing shows and selling my work, and hope to some day be able to support myself on my art, so I can paint full time.
I didn't have a good picture of myself,so this is one I painted If your interested in purchasing my work, or a gallery thats interested in displaying it, email
I find that at the moment I seem to be painting a lot of different subjects, anybody else have this problem ? if it is a problem !!. LOL.
What a wonderful scene so ever touching! John it doesn't matter if you paint a lot of different subjects, as you are skilled in all of them! A favorite for me... view answer
