oil on board.16x20 inch unframed.there was many reasons i chose to paint this-a bit of my childhood,when granny's cows have names,like girls,that a cow is not only beef and-a word "cow",which shouted towards females,by some reason means the worse,but you know what-looking at this picture,i would be proud to be cow!

Very beautiful ,Esther! I know what you mean....many years ago,,I worked on a Dairy Farm...they were Jersey Cows..absolutely beautiful.. The farmer had names for all of them, all 200 of them...we had special towels to dry them with, and I would wash the towels at the end of the day , with delicate soap. When the farmer would walk me to my car, sometimes......the cows could be 2 fields away, ..and when they heard Arther's voice{The farmer}...they would start walking towards him, they loved him. When a cow was sick , Arther would stay with them in the barn, until they were on the mend. I have never known such a clean barn, as that one. The old farmer ,Arther passed away earlier this year. He will be very missed. Sincerely, Doris

Hi Trudi! I agree that it is very hard to convince some farmers take a good care of animals,even they will be meat at the end!We need to eat,i dont mind,but imagine ill human,who definitely will pass away, would be treated so bad as some farm animals,just because of dead end??? I'm delighted you like the painting!I am a city child,but summers i spent in granny's,she had a couple cows,goats,some pigs,geese and hens,dog and a cat and loads of land.That was so different,so peaceful-i still miss it a lot.I remember falling asleep between cows when one of them due a calf!:0) Yepp,Nature is beauty and we all r part of it!Cheers Moosje!

I love cows. Where I lived as a child our house backed onto a field where cows roamed. One day my dad had a bonfire, and that night there was a bit of a commotion in the back garden. We looked out to find several cows had broken through our fence and were lying resplendant round the dying embers of the fire. A lasting, cherished memory.
