I love these! The colors are so subtle and delicate! And I don't have one rose in my yard!

Sense you asked, I would give it more depth in the background. Mix the green with a red for the darks. Try to make one flower the focal point. Maybe on your next painting, not this one.

I'm still learning though...

On my next flower painting I won't put one on top of the other.

The technical portion of this painting is great. I believe the composition would be helped if there were 3 flowers instead of 2 and that they were not aligned vertically but oblique and in a random pattern. From a distance the present composition tends to divide the painting with a vertical white line in the center right of the painting making it somewhat static.

The flowers are delicate and your use of color is excellent. I also think the composition could be greatly improved to make this a great painting. As an artist, we can take license and set up our subject as we choose to make it more eye pleasing. Always set up your subject in uneven numbers and sometimes even run your painting off the page in one or several places - this adds interest too. You have lots of talent so keep at it. Thanks for sharing!

Simply a hobby that I love and would love to have more time to do! Any suggestions appreciated. Am self taught and have been painting for about 6 years but very sporadically as I am a busy wife of a travelling fanatic and a grandmother of 13.
