This is sorta controversal to whether this man is good or bad. There is something about him that suggests that he is good but merely surrounded by darkness or maybe there is some in him as well. Intrigueing, and i absoluetely love the way you did the face. (:

The man is good......maybe my painting is a bit off. Thanks for commenting. Jane

Very successful portrait, very expressive. Being a traditionalist, I was wondering why you did not center it?

This was one of my first portraits. I went back to it last year and finished it. I am just a novice, so don't plan enough. If I remember correctly, I want to use the window panes as they were in the photo that I painted from.
We are the same age......4.22.1940 for me. Keep in touch! Thanks for commenting. Jane

Mitch has a great face,,full round face, he will never have too many wrinkles,,,I know first hand,,I have always had a round face, and at 56 yrs old now,,I have few wrinkles. I race the chevelle at the drag strip,,it is quite a RUSH, for a few seconds,,blows the cob webs off for sure.....We love our antique cars. Cheers to your son,,,good luck with the painting the cars!! 5***** Sincerely, Doris,, Thankyou so much for your wonderful comments, Jane, very appreciated!

Hi Jane...
I like the composition of your portrait very much. It appears well-balanced. I believe the photo is off-kilter, seeing a portion of the frame on one side but not the other. Mitch looks American Indian or maybe part. Great job on this. It looks like your best work. He should take it home and hang it prominently so everyone can see what a marvelous mother-in-law he has.

This is just a wonderful portrait of a handsome man.
There is a lot of expression and character in his face.
What i like is that you did not put his face in the center.
I like this a lot more with the beautiful colored window on the left side.
With friendly regards, Johann.

Artist Statement
for Jane Rohe Weston
Jane Rohe WestonPainting began late in my life. Was happened upon unexpectedly, but now takes up a large slice of my time.
Portrait painting seems to give me the most pleasure, at least, when the canvas is completed. The process is rather tortuous, but rewarding.
Born a hoosier, spending many years in Honolulu, I now reside in upstate NY (to be near family) and paint best during the snow season.
I welcome any comments as I am self-taught and seeking direction, comments (please be kind), steering to competent guidance. I am in awe of the painters on "paintingsilove.com". Each day when I log in I witness such talent and beauty I want to go directly to my studio and paint and paint and paint some more.
My paintings are signed, "Irwin", after my deceased, paternal grandmother, Jane Irwin Weston.
