For the Love of Shakespeare by Jeanne Warren

For the Love of Shakespeare

This is a mixture of acrylic and watercolor paints on paper. This painting came from a photo I took of Anne Hathaway's cottage. A beautiful place, stereotypical of England. My husband insisted I paint it (in hopes I could sell it to tourists). No such luck so far but I have not really explored all the possibilities yet. It is approximately 21" by 15".

wow Jeanne, this is so beautifully painted. You have mastered this medium. I saw that cottage about 12 years ago when I went on a holiday to visit my son who was studying on a scholarship at the university of London. Your painting has captured my memory. Love it. 5 stars many, many, many times. Regards Pam:)

i haven't been to england but that's the way it looks in my dreams. you have put personality into inanimate objects and i really love this. can't imagine why it hasn't sold. you have a wonderful talent. glad to meet you. xxoo ps - i love to mix every kind of paint imaginable plus gold or silver leaf and whatever else i can throw in for effect. the watercolor acrylic technique is very effective!!

Cheers Carol...I think it's fabulous that you mix all kinds of paint on your paintings...it just shows the rest of us how creative you are! England is lovely. I feel so lucky to be living here. Lots of people over here do not like this "chocolate box" painting as it is so stereotypical of this country. I think the people who would appreciate it most would be from another country, ha ha! But to be honest, I have not really avidly tried to sell it yet. I guess I am trying to keep building up a portfolio so I can fulfill my dreams one day...to find a good publisher, have my own exhibit somewhere, and finally, show my work in a prestigious gallery that appreciates my style of painting. Lots to ask for, but it is a goal and that is what keeps me painting and loving what I do. :-) And thanks for the compliment on putting personality into my work. I would like to believe I do...so glad I got to meet you. I could tell by Oldivad's painting that you would be special and I was right.

Five stars, Jeanne!
Fantistic detail in this English cottage.
Why would you want to sell this masterpiece to a "tourist?" Wonderful color palette, evoking peace, and harmony. Work of this quality deserves a fine archival linen surface. You have wonderful technical skills. May I ask the size of this artistic gem?

Dear Carl, Thank you ever so much for your beautiful commentary on this painting. In England, this would never sell as they poo-poo any kind of paintings that depict "chocolate box" settings. My husband, being a true Brit, suggested I paint it so that we could produce giclee prints to sell to tourists as they would appreciate it more! We approached the lady who buys for the little shop outside Hathaway's cottage and she told us it was "too green" and therefore they were not interested in selling it. Bit discouraging for me as I spent countless hours trying to perfect it! It is approximately 21" by 15"; which is the standard size for most of my work here in PIL. Thanks for asking! PS Guess you could say this is a "different take" on an English cottage; ie, Thomas Kincade. ;-)

Artist Statement
for Jeanne Warren
Jeanne WarrenI have loved art for as long as I can remember. As a child I could sit and draw for hours and was fascinated by anyone who could master painting anything in a realistic manner. I decided, even then, that this was my mission; to paint as realistically as possible. I wanted to learn that skill and practiced all my life to get there. I have studied art in college but to be honest I have to say what I know has been mainly self taught. It started with crayons as a child, to pencils and colored pencils, to oil paints and then watercolors and acrylics. I have developed my own style, however, by combining acrylic and watercolor paints to achieve brightness and clarity in my work. This technique is relatively new to me (I began painting this way in the summer of 2009), yet is one I enjoy tremendously. I am presently a member of my local art club and am beginning to work on a portfolio to submit to publishers. My goal is to create giclee prints of my originals and sell them.
