Artist Statement
for
Meg Quilty
My name is Meg Campbell but I paint under my maiden name "Quilty" I Live in Glen Innes NSW.
I am mother to five beautiful girls who are often the inspiration to my paintings.
I began painting about nine years ago, just for fun...I simply wanted to paint my daughters. I have recently decided that life is too short to be in a job I dont love so I have come to the conclusion I need to combine art and income.
I accidently stumbled across this site and think it is a fantastic way to get my work "out there". I also love looking at and learning from other artists who understand the passion, hard work and frustration that go hand in hand with producing most paintings. One day I hope to be competant enough that it becomes 'easy'.
I have had tutoring from two brilliant artists in Armidale Barry and Lucy McCann and with out them I would not be where I am today.
My ultimate goal(no laughing please)is to be selected for the finalists in the Archibald. Long shot I know but we have to aim somewhere:-)
another great work Meg 5* (accepted)
This portrait of your daughter is awesome Meg. I love everything about it. Not sure if the sin cancer council would be overly impressed though... LOL But hey, Who in Oz doesn't soak up the rays if given the chance.. 5***** :) Kerry
Meg~ Your daughter is beautiful and I know she will treasure this for a life time! You use a great arrangement of skin tones and the colors adding in... I really admire your style! 5* :) (accepted)
A beautiful watercolour of your daughter phoebe.
You have achieved good effect with minimal subtle colours.
You seem to have natural talent.5*
Happy new year to you and your family.
Best regards
David
little. I used heaps of water to keep it pale and transparent.
I always use windsor and newton paint, I find it suits me best.
I hope this helps..I truely am a learner myself as I only get the chance to paint every 2 or 3 months. I hope to do more than that this year though...the children are getting older and let me have a little more time to myself:-)
Please dont hesitate to contact me if I can help you in any way. xx
