Ha ha, It's okay Robert. I'm not easy to understand most of the time.. And I try and keep my Aussie down as much as possible so people can understand me. "nailed it" means, you have got it exactly right..or, just can't get any better than this.. I have a couple of red dresses, But hey a woman can never have too many dresses.. LOL
150 squares each part of the painting....!!! I have enough trouble getting 1 Square to look presentable.. :)))

I paint in this square style for more then 10 years now , but it does not yet get easier at all.
I still have to paint all the squares 2 or 3 times

Thank you very much. The square style is what you see. Building a painting with 150 separate abstract squares. One by one until the last white canvas is filled up. After that i try to create the atmos[phere i want and try to reach balance and harmony in light , colors etc.

This one works very well. The transitions are seamless yet pronounced and the style is relaxed. It allows the subject matter and composition to overwhelm the style and title / story.

Thank you for your comment Steven. Yes , the subject is central in this painting. There is a difference between my hard squares and the soft ones. Hard means a lot of contrast between the squares in light and complementary colors. Then the squares dominate the subject or you could say
the subject does not matter. "Scarlet"is a soft one.Not the colors but the style. So, no surprises for the eye and no fright effects. I have no preference for the hard or soft ones. But they need a very different kind of development and improvement. That is the challenge and it is keeping me very busy :-)))

Robert have you ever thought about ceramics. I know the brush is very hard to set down these days but I was just wondering in your quiet time if it ever crossed your mind.

The problems is , i do not have quiet times.
But, to be honest, it never crossed my mind.
Now it does and immidiately i have a million questions. I think it is a very different profession.

Make that a million and one questions. Yes, ceramics is like pastels verses oil verses acrylic. Each medium has its different ways to be handled...

Yet, in the hands of a great master, whose name shall not be spoken, anything is possible. And just think it could be outdoors for many to pass by and admire.

Hoe je de glans van de stof van de jurk hebt geschilderd, dat vind ik zo knap. Het ziet er uit als satijn.

It took me about 90 ours i think. The one i am busy with now is much more complicated , but still not finished. 120 ours already.
