This is really stunning. Excellent face expression. I love the elegance of your brush strokes and palette that add to the face expression a really dreamy , gentle and loving looking .
You have a lovely daughter Rick. Green eyes? and brown hair, i love the combination. Beautiful skin tones. Wonderful hands. Like here facial expression. Well done. Greetings, Robert
beautiful, beautiful little girl and beautiful portrait Rick. Love her eyes, they are so alive. Wonderful colours and brush strokes. 5 stars thousands of times. What a beautiful daughter you have. Pam:)
I have been keeping my eye on your work for some time and you are certainly a painter who consistently impresses and inspires me. Believe me it obviously has nothing to do with how often I write and crit. your work. You are serious and hard working and inspiring.
Rick~ Beautiful! She is such a beautiful young girl and I adore her expression and all you did with this.. You truly captured realism with this!!! Wow I wish I could paint portraits like you do... so keep going as I can't wait to see another portrait from you... a fan of your style and work! :) may I ask what medium did you use?
But of course. and thanks by the way. I use oil paint on stretched canvas and when I deserve it or can afford it by selling some work I would love to try some different textured linen, board etc. I love all of the technical stuff also like mediums, and I would like to pain t more from real life as opposed to painting from photos. Plein aire also sounds fascinating, life drawing etc and getting to talk to people like yourself,
Wasn't meant to be an insult Rick. You have terrific artistic skills. I merely meant that it was the first time your work for me, as a viewer, was emotive. It is simply lovely. xxx Paula
Hello my friend! This is the first painting of yours! Wow! I'm also starting painting using as a model my daughter! In this work you did amazing work. I love the pose and the way the girl look at you (us). Is wonderful. Your style is so characteristic. Your limited palette at your hands gives excellent results. You're inspiration for me... Thanks for sharing. Kostas
your beautiful beautiful daughter, then and now. what a great portrait that shows all of your love for her and all the sweetness in her heart. fantastic my dear friend.
Hello Rick its been a while! I hope you are well and still painting......she is beautiful...you have caught that wonderful serenity of childhood...xxxx
This is a beautiful portrait of a beautiful girl. You did an amazing job. I enjoyed all of your pictures, but feel this is one of your very best. Be blessed.
"Pearl earings" as you can see their are 10 of about 20 works so far in the group since October (I am standing on the last of the flat shapes as I work). No job so I just started to do portraits and they caught on. Now to get as good as you are here and I may have a winner...!!!!!
Love this portrait of your daughter. Silky skin, green full of light eyes, beautifull mouth, fantastic composition and execution. I love it, and by the way, she´s a nice pretty innocent girl. Congratulations a very good work.
Excellent, I love it, 5 stars! LOL, just kidding, Rick :-P It really sucks. No, sorry, ok, seriously, I keep looking at this face. What I do love about it is the eyes, skin, and background colors are harmoniously warm, but the eyes stand out, her serene expression, the way you drew her face and hands, her hair, it is all so nice. I like the way the color changes on her hair from cold blue on one side to warm on the other. I can see you put love into this. I can't believe it is one of your first portraits, wise choice to paint someone you love.
And let me just say it pisses me off that you self-taught artists are better than me! The only thing, if I look at this painting critically, is the picture left hand looks more natural than the picture right hand, it looks a bit like the bones are out of joint, but I wouldn't have noticed it on first glance. It is a very slight thing, and I wouldn't change it. I really like the fingers on the picture right hand, the pink nails are so pretty.
Thanks so much Debbie. I have been trying to capture the essence of a foreshortened for over a month. I have to do something with figures and let my imagination go before I crack. Thanks, now I will go look at your new one.
The look and the pose is so typical, you have captured her expression wonderfully, I love you palette and style here and the detail is spot on, in the right places less is more, a beautiful portrait Rick that is a joy to view, cheers, paul ;0)
Beautiful ! Love the expression in Bonnie's eyes and the innocence is superb. Really admire the natural expression in her gaze! A beautiful child, indeed! Her eyes are so soft and the pale green expresses it all, so lovely, a real beauty to behold! If this was your first portrait, then it is excellent work, Rick! I think painting from reality is the best way, but photographs do help us to create a style. It is amazing how the form appears, though ,and a marvelous experience, painting portraits! Well done, 5***** Regards Angela Susan
Lovely portrait...I really like her skin tones! Looking at the size of the hands in comparison to the face, it seems to be a young girl (child), the mouth however (because of the colour, which is as if there is lipstick on ) looks like that of a young lady. Maybe a slightly more natural lipcolour would spell out her age more accurately? But still, she is lovely and beautifully painted with such a mesmerizing expression in her eyes!
Hi Rick hows it going with you? not been on here much so have missed tons of paintings, just not got the time!! Anyhow spotted this thumbnail, and knew it was your work. I think this is a wonderful composition...very well balanced the eyes draw you in straight away, and her hands are extremely well painted (I am rubbish at hands) Love you minimilistic palette as always.xx
Hallo Rick, This painting "Bonnie" ,sooo beautiful, especially your unique technique and chosen colours, visible to me in the way you have applied skin tones. Lovely eyes and precious innocent expression. Wonderful Work! Warms any Heart.
PS. I really liked the concept of your SWAP group. Recently a fellow artist on Pil, I commented on his drawing, he said he was asked to create for the face of a writers website, they decided it wasnt suitable. After reading my comment on his painting- he asked-If I could find a home for it- I could have it. So I accepted as long as he accepted a painting from me. I am working on his painting now. We would have submitted our paintings to your group- to show what a great idea it is, and it can work, without being precious about value, but the genuine gesture of Art Appreciation. Your SWAP group was a great idea. Ricky has received donations of Art from various Artist here on PIL for his TSX charity Group. Kind Regards Charleen.
thanks so much for writing Charleen. I just got tired of no support so I came to believe that it would never get it. You have my total support to start a SWAP group and I would be glad to enter pieces. Pavlos' and I can think of a differet A. whose work is nothing compared to Pavlov's dismissing my idea as self aggrandizing. But you Charleen is the only person on here that liked the idea
i have gotten zero emails from you for several months at least and I am not sure why this is. just try ricklevy@sbcglobal.net . Have had no other problems that I'm aware of. Got skype the other day. It has been fun talking to a very good friend in Como, Italy. FREE with audio and video. Almost as bad as looking in the mirror a ninute too long. What's your typical day like now? Good I hope. ciao
